Customizable vegetable-based gummy candy comes to Go! Games and Toys retail locations in the United States, and makes online debut.
Berlin-based candy company Katjes has teamed with toy store Go! Games and Toys to bring their 3D-printed vegan gummy candy experience to retail and online shoppers. “The Magic Candy Factory” is a specialized printer that first debuted in Katje’s Café Grün-Ohr in Germany to publicly beta test its concept last year. The expansion brings the concept to Go! Games and Toys mall locations where customers can interact with the machine via an iPad interface. Shoppers create gummy candies—made with a vegetable gelling agent—choosing from eight flavors, several toppings (such as edible glitter), and a wide array of pre-set shapes such as seahorses, flowers, and whales—or fully customizeable text, personal photos, and company logos, then watch their selection print in five minutes. “We have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, a high-quality and delicious product, and a strong international brand,” Go! Games and Toys President Paul Hoffman says. The Katje’s—or “little cat” in Dutch—brand was established in 1950.
