The vegan bleeding burger forges on in its expansion to Whole Foods meat departments nationwide.
Beyond Meat’s plant-based Beyond Burger has touched down in Whole Food Markets stores across Southern California. The burger—which “bleeds” thanks to a mixture of coconut oil and beet juice—will be available in the meat department of store locations throughout the greater Los Angeles area, Palm Springs, and Encinitas, amongst others. In October, meat company Tyson invested an undisclosed amount in Beyond Meat, which CEO Ethan Brown said will help the company to bring meat alternatives out of “the penalty box” and into “the mainstream.” In addition to a growing list of Whole Foods Markets—currently 177 locations—Beyond Burger will also be available at all 28 Veggie Grill locations, with the first debuting in Los Angeles last month.
