Meat-Free Subs from Impossible Burger Hit Harvard

News

Meanwhile, Yale students dine on plant-based Beyond Burgers.

Impossible Foods’ plant-based Impossible Burger became available last week near Ivy League school Harvard University, as students can now order the plant-based meat in the form of a meatball subway sandwich at Harvard Square’s fast-food chain Clover Food Lab locations. The Impossible Burger was met with acceptance by students during a Thursday launch event, at which student Elizabeth N. Gummer told student news outlet The Harvard Crimson that the Impossible Burger was an exact replica of animal-based meat. “As long as it tastes good,” another student Henrique V. G. Vaz said, “it’s fine. It doesn’t need to taste exactly like a hamburger.” Impossible Foods recently began production at an expanded facility in Oakland, CA to meet its goal of reaching 1,000 distribution points by the end of the year. Meanwhile, competing plant-based patty Beyond Burger is currently available at fellow Ivy League school Yale University.
