The man who played Dwight Schrute—the hunting, beet farming, Battlestar Galactica-loving assistant to regional manager on The Office—now calls himself "The Fifty-Year-Old Vegan."
Rainn Wilson—known for his role as hunter/beet farmer Dwight Schrute on The Office—revealed on Instagram last week that he has been following a plant-based diet with his wife, author Holiday Reinhorn, for six weeks. Wilson titled his post “The Fifty-Year-Old Vegan” and explained that the couple initially eschewed animal products for just one month but ultimately decided to stick with the diet. “I noticed that I had more energy!” Wilson said. “I was sleeping better and deeper. I didn’t need naps in the afternoon as much. I started to drop some pounds. And, bonus, it’s supposed to be good for the planet.” The Office star goes on to explain that he currently has no moral issue with eating animals but plans to stick to his plant-based diet for health and environmental reasons. Wilson ends the post with a promise, stating, “I will not be one of those [expletive] vegans who is always talking about how they’re vegan!” Fellow The Office star Craig Robinson—known for his role as Darryl Philbin—is currently transitioning to a plant-based diet, which he says has helped him lose 50 pounds.
