A survey of 13,000 people in 14 countries found that living in a world where meat is no longer derived from animals makes them feel positive about the future.
Multinational communications company Vodafone recently conducted a survey to determine the positive feelings people people have about the future. The group presented 13,000 individuals across 14 countries with 10 “futuristic” situations. One such situation is entitled “protein shift” and describes a world 20 years in the future when meat no longer comes from animals. “We will enjoy a range of healthy and delicious sources of meat-free protein and realistic meat alternatives that don’t come from animals,” the survey said. “This will help bring both global carbon emissions and heart disease down to an all-time low.” Primed with these situations—which also included technological advances such as artificial intelligence, cleaner cities with 3D buildings, and super-fast automated transport—a majority of respondents expressed an optimistic view of the future. People in the 18–24 age bracket were particularly positive about the future, with 62 percent of respondents indicating they believed the world would be better in 20 years time.
