Farm Sanctuary Gala Invites Attendees to Wear PJs

News

Animal-rights organization Farm Sanctuary hosts its first virtual charity gala, where guests can attend the function from their couch while enjoying dinner courtesy of vegan meal delivery service Veestro.

Animal-rights organization Farm Sanctuary is hosting its inaugural Virtual Gala: Live From New York today. An “admission” ticket to the charity gala will include an entrĂ©e from vegan meal delivery service Veestro, where attendees can choose from the Herb Crusted Turk’y with stuffing and cranberry sauce, or gluten-free Cauliflower Milanese with almond green beans and mashed yams. National Shelter Director Susie Coston will lead the live-streaming virtual tour out of its New York shelter. The event is set to broadcast on Explore.org and will feature celebrity guests Frank the steer, Cameron the pig, Benedict the goat, and many other rescued animals. Last year, Farm Sanctuary celebrated its 30th year anniversary with a star-studded gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. “They’re a lot of fun,” Farm Sanctuary media relations specialist Meredith Turner-Smith said, “but this year we wanted to try something different—a gala where farm animals are the celebrity guests.” While most galas are black-tie affairs, Turner-Smith explained that the recommended attire for this virtual event is pajamas, adding, “attendees can help the most exploited, least protected animals on Earth from the comfort of their own couch.”
