The vegan actress vows to create a copycat animal-free version of the disputed handbag.
Vegan actress Ruby Rose—known for her role on hit series Orange is the New Black—discovered this week that fashion brand Prada released a leather handbag printed with her likeness. Rose was made aware of the non-vegan handbag through a photographer who took the original photo of Rose that seems to appear on Prada’s handbag. “[I] kinda like this Prada bag that apparently is in no way any likeness to me at all even though ... everyone keeps asking about it,” Rose sarcastically stated on Twitter alongside a seamless morph of her photo and the handbag in question. “I’m obviously just super common looking,” Rose added in a later post. “No big deal. I’ll make one, it will look the same because I’ll use the same photo of my face but in vegan leather. A copy of a copy.” The actress routinely uses her fame to promote the vegan lifestyle and in April urged her then 1.2 million Twitter followers to go vegan to take action against the Trump administration’s denial of climate change.
