The compassionate comedian is officially vegan and has the abs to prove it.
On a recent episode of Late Night with Stephen Colbert, host Stephen Colbert confirmed that fellow comedian Jon Stewart is vegan. The segment featured actor Matt Damon—who voiced animated character Bill the Krill in 2011 film Happy Feet Two—who joked with Colbert about who, between Colbert and Stewart, would play Brad Pitt’s role Will the Krill in the movie should the film have been alternatively cast. “Jon’s vegan so he’s got the abs,” Colbert said to explain Stewart’s qualifications for the role. Stewart and his (also vegan) wife Tracey have used their fame in recent years to promote animal rights. Earlier this year, Jon Stewart expressed his love for vegan meats from Minneapolis-based The Herbivorous Butcher and helped to spike sales at Pennsylvania-based bakery Vegan Treats after sending its vegan cakes to the hosts of The View. The couple plans to open the fourth location of nonprofit rescue organization Farm Sanctuary in New Jersey in 2018.
