The former Playmate and current YouTube comedian confirms that she would never promote beef jerky to her 19 million social media followers because she is vegan.
In a recent interview with Forbes, former Playboy Playmate and comedian Amanda Cerny discussed her rise to social media stardom. Cerny revealed that her fanbase—which consists of 19.2 million social media followers, many of whom fall between the ages of 18 to 24—is a difficult demographic for advertisers to reach without the help of influencers like herself, and that she is selective about what she chooses to promote online. “Like you’re not going to sell beef jerky because you’re a vegan,” writer Tom Ward commented. “Exactly,” Cerny responded. “My fans would be like, ‘Screw you, Amanda! You lied to us!”’ In 2014, Cerny revealed on Twitter that she had chosen to go vegan—joking that the exception would be her mother’s non-vegan cookies. Cerny is now known for her comedic skits on YouTube, and this Thanksgiving, Cerny wished her followers a “Happy Tofurkey Day” with a photo of the herself surrounded by vegan food and wearing a T-shirt that read, “Almond Milk Saves Lives.”
