Vegan meal shake startup Bear Brands raised more than $65,000 from 250 backers in the first day of its crowdfunding campaign.
California-based startup Bear Brands, LLC broke a previous record set on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo by raising more than $65,000 from more than 250 backers within 24 hours of launching its campaign for vegan product Bear Squeeze. Bauman developed Bear Squeeze (a meal replacer that consumers mix with their beverage of choice) with the help of food scientists and chefs with the goal of delivering a highly nutritious and convenient meal. The initial product will launch in two flavors (Vanilla Chai and Chocolate), each containing five net carbohydrates, more protein than three eggs, and more probiotics than four bottles of kombucha. “We’re thrilled to see so many people excited about Bear Squeeze,” founder Max Bauman said. “I believe a lot of the success is due to the low net carb and plant-based properties, which are extremely difficult to find in meal replacement shakes today. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the campaign will bring.” The company’s campaign—which has surpassed its initially funding goal of $25,000 by more than 300 percent—will be live until February 19.
