Rewild bills itself as America's first fully plant-based beer hall and café, with plans to open by June.
Vegan beer hall Rewild plans to open in the South Shore neighborhood of Boston by June. Redwild—which claims to be the first plant-based beer hall and café in America—will feature 20 beers on tap from mostly local breweries, along with non-alcoholic beverages such as kombucha, seltzer, and coffee. The food menu will feature homemade cashew cheese in dishes such as burgers, tacos, and pizzas, with plans to serve Impossible Burger sliders and vegan bacon-wrapped scallops—made with oyster mushrooms and rice paper-based bacon. The project is a collaboration of local entrepreneurs Marissa Hughes, chef Will Hernandez (who previously worked for by CHLOE), and Paul McAuley—who is a founding member of Boston-based brewery Barrel House Z. “There’s no place in Massachusetts that you can go have a few beers, hang out with friends, and eat plant-based food,” McAuley told Eater Boston. “My primary goal of the whole project is to just bring plant-based food in a social and fun way, specifically to the South Shore, but to Boston as well.” McAuley envisions the beer hall also operating as a café in the morning, where customers can work on their laptops and enjoy vegan pastries and coffee. Last month, San Diego-based craft brewery Modern Times opened beer-centric vegan eatery Dankness Dojo in downtown Los Angeles and plans to open vegan restaurant, The Far West Lounge, in Encinitas, CA later this year.
