Famed actor is this year's face of Farm Sanctuary's Adopt a Turkey Project.
Alec Baldwin is the new face of animal-rights organization Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt a Turkey Project. The campaign—now in its 13th year—is designed to bring awareness to the cruelty turkeys suffer before they become Thanksgiving dinner, and asks for a $30 donation which will sponsor one turkey who will be saved from slaughter and live peacefully at one of Farm Sanctuary’s New York or California shelters. “At least 46 million turkeys suffer heartbreaking fear and pain before being killed each and every Thanksgiving,” Baldwin told TIME this week. “This year, I’m supporting Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt a Turkey Project because turkeys are just as friendly, smart, and full of feeling as my dogs, and they deserve to be treated better." Baldwin has previously fought against ending cruelty to chickens at Tyson farms, protested against SeaWorld, and spoke on camera for an episode of his show 30 Rock about New York’s cruel horse-drawn carriage industry.
