The Denver Nuggets' forward is returning to the NBA feeling lighter, stronger, and more energetic after adopting a plant-based diet.
Professional basketball player Wilson Chandler—a forward for the Denver Nuggets—explained that his mostly vegan diet is behind his triumphant return to the NBA. Chandler appeared in a new video created by vegan wellness resource Sentient Fitness. The athlete began transitioning to a plant-based diet in 2016 after researching veganism by watching documentaries and became concerned about his health and how farmed animals are treated. “Especially in the black community, a lot of the things we eat affect us,” Chandler said before linking animal-based foods to diabetes, cancer, and inflammation. The forward credits his ability to wake up refreshed, recover faster from injury, high-energy levels, and a newly found clear-mindedness to his vegan diet—which he is still fine-tuning. “Finding food on the road is the biggest problem for me,” Chandler said and revealed that his favorite vegan restaurant is Detroit Vegan Soul.
