James Cadbury—of the family behind chocolate brand Cadbury—creates the first avocado-based chocolate bar sans animal products.
London-based brand Love Cocoa recently announced the launch of its all-vegan Avocado Dark Chocolate Bar. Love Cocoa was founded in July 2016 by James Cadbury—the great-great-great-grandson of Cadbury chocolate brand founder John Cadbury. “Growing up a Cadbury, I’ve always loved chocolate and experimenting in the kitchen," Cadbury said. “And like the millions on Instagram, I’m also an avocado fan, so I thought why not mix two of the most loved flavors and foods together—and that’s how the avocado chocolate bar was born.” While the company is not vegan, the avocado bar is made entirely of animal-free ingredients, including fair-trade organic 70-percent dark chocolate, vanilla extract, and avocado pulp—sourced from Hass avocados. The bar is currently available at select retail outlets (and online) in the United Kingdom, but the company plans to launch delivery to the United States by the end of this year.
