Venture capitalist Mark Cuban commits more than half a million dollars in exchange for 25 percent equity in vegan startup Delighted by Hummus.
Vegan company Delighted by Hummus raised $600,000 in capital funding during a recent episode of investment reality series Shark Tank. The offer was made by venture capitalist Mark Cuban, who successfully negotiated a 25-percent equity holding with Delighted by Hummus founder MaKenzie Marzluff. The company impressed the show’s investors with its innovative take on hummus—with dessert flavors that Cuban believes will not directly compete with the savory hummus varieties currently on the market. Marzluff revealed that her brand—which makes hummus flavors such as Brownie Batter, Snickerdoodle, Vanilla Bean, and Choco-Mint—made $1 million in gross sales in the 13 months after debuting on shelves at select retail outlets nationwide.
