Vegan Ice Cream Brand Raises $4 Million to Expand

News

Austin-based NadaMoo! secures new funding to help expand the national footprint of its coconut milk-based ice cream.

Austin-based brand NadaMoo! announced last week that it raised $4 million in capital funding led by Canadian firm InvestEco. The vegan ice cream brand was founded by the Nicholson family in 2004 with the mission to show that vegan ice cream—which the company makes with organic coconut milk in flavors such as The Rockiest Road, Birthday Cake, and Himalayan Salted Caramel—can be just as creamy as its dairy counterpart. In the past six years, NadaMoo! CEO Daniel Nicholson has expanded the brand to retailers outside of Texas, including Whole Foods Market, Albertsons, HEB, and Sprouts Farmers Market nationwide. “In this day and age,” Nicholson said, “authenticity matters more than ever. We are proud to be an independently, family-owned operation focused on being a part of the sustainability solution for our planet. We are excited about what our future holds as we continue to grow and lead in the dairy free, plant-based movement.” NadaMoo! will use the new capital to hire new team members, develop new products, and expand its distribution across the United States and internationally in 2018.
