The burger chain now offers two new plant-based options: the Beyond Burger and the Impossible Burger.
California-based brand Beyond Meat’s vegan patty Beyond Burger is now available at 12 Manhattan locations of Bareburger in New York City. The new Beyond Burger is served with vegan American cheese, sweet pickles, red onion, green leaf lettuce, and special sauce on a brioche bun—that customers can make vegan by ordering with a multigrain bun and omitting the special sauce. Beyond Burger joins Impossible Burger on the menu, which the chain added last year. Bareburger removed meat-based options elk and boar to accommodate the plant-based update. While both the Beyond Burger and Impossible Burger have debuted separately on menus across the country, eateries are now adding both patties. Vegan fast-food restaurant Marty’s V Burger in NYC has featured both burgers on its menu since January 9. The eatery conducted a social media poll asking followers which burger they prefer, and the result was a 50-50 split. “We have seen omnivores driven to our restaurant to sample these new types of burgers,” owner Marty Krutolow told VegNews, “and be impressed by the fact that they love the food and that we vegans aren’t restricted to a diet of tree bark and leaves.” Last week, Bareburger hired vegan chef Rudy Ramos (known as “The Vegicano”) to develop the menu for its first all-vegan outlet that will open in New York City in the next three months. The Beyond Burger will expand to all 39 locations of Bareburger by the end of February.
