Vegan Feast to Benefit Earthquake Relief in Mexico

News

This Thanksgiving, Los Angeles vegan eatery Gracias Madre is raising money to help rebuild destroyed homes in Oaxaca, Mexico.

On Thanksgiving day, vegan eatery Gracias Madre—in partnership with Guelaguetza restaurant—will host a fundraiser called Gracias Por Oaxaca. The event will be held at Gracias Madre’s Los Angeles location and will feature live music by Caro Pierotto, along with a feast of Mexican-inspired dishes including butternut squash tamales, wild rice and black bean pilaf, a habanero-spiked cranberry sauce, pumpkin cheesecake, and cranberry-infused margaritas. Entry to the fundraiser is a suggested donation of $25, and all proceeds will be donated to Por Oaxaca—an organization started by the family behind Guelaguetza dedicated to building provisional housing for victims of the 8.1 magnitude earthquake that struck Oaxaca, Mexico in September. Gracias Madre was named Best Casual Restaurant by VegNews readers in the 2017 Veggie Awards.
